    Makeup I love

    Primer & Setting Spray | Too-Faced Hangover 3-in-1 Primer & Setting Spray $40

I’m officially on my second bottle of this. I love using both primers and setting sprays to help my makeup last longer and after trying Glam Glow Glow-setter setting spray I love a dewy finish to my makeup. After trying a sample, my favourite primer is the YSL Touche Eclat Blur Primer which definitely extends the look of my makeup but is expensive. While browsing Sephora one day I decided to try out the Too-Faced primer & setting spray and love it! They are the products that I need in one bottle and cheaper than my favourite primer. The first bottle I bought was in January and I use it almost every day as a primer and setter so this has lasted me a long time!

Foundation | It Cosmetics Your Skin but Better CC Cream Spf 50 $49

I discovered It Cosmetics last summer during a trip to the states. At that time It Cosmetics wasn’t available in Canada so I jumped on the chance to try it. I love love love this cc cream. It’s thicker than a normal tinted moisturizer but lighter than a normal foundation so I like the coverage. My favourite thing is it has spf in it so I plan to wear it all summer. I’ve had the same bottle since February and probably won’t need a new bottle for another month. It’s expensive for a foundation but worth it and with the sale it’s the perfect time to try it out!

Concealer | Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer $37

This is without a doubt my favourite concealer. If I had to leave the house wearing only two products it would be this and mascara. I wear the colour, “cannelle” which is probably the first concealer colour that’s perfect for my skin. The finish is amazing and natural-not cakey at all.

Powder | Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder $31

I almost forgot to include this powder in this post because it’s such a staple for me now! Without a doubt my favourite powder I feel no need to look anywhere else or experiment with others. I grew up wearing the CoverGirl pressed powder to set my makeup which was thick and I felt necessary to hide my acne prone combination skin. Now that I focus a lot on my skincare and prefer a dewy finish, this light and bright powder gives me the coverage I need and love.

Highlighter (cream) | RMS Beauty Living Luminizer  $47.50

I have very round features so I’ve been trying to find a great highlighter to fake cheekbones and I’m really liking this product. RMS is a natural company and has great reviews so in an effort to try more green beauty I bought this along with their Lip2Cheek product. You can read more about Lip2Cheek below but this is such a pretty highlighter. Because it’s a balm it provides a dewy finish which I love and feels natural enough to wear everyday. It’s definitely going to be a go-to for my summer makeup.

Highlighter (powder) | Sephora Golden Hour Luminizing Powder $20

I’m snoopy and I love giving compliments so when I see someone wearing something amazing I almost always go up to them and tell them they’re a babe and ask where they got their amazing product. A few week ago we were being served by a stunning waitress who glowed so I had to ask her about her highlighter. She told me she used the Sephora collection highlighter and applied it with an eyeshadow brush for a more precise application! The next day I went to Sephora and got this and I love it. It’s a pigmented highlighter so I usually use it for date nights when I want to look like a disco ball.

Blush | Stila’s Aqua Glow Watercolour Cushion Blush in Rosewater $34

You can’t get this at Sephora but I thought I would mention it because it’s my perfect blush. I wrote about this in a previous post so you can read more there but I love the colour and application. It looks natural, has staying power, and doesn’t stain your fingers. This is another one for my summer makeup bag! Below I mention products that I’m excited to try and that includes Glossier’s cloud paint which should have a similar finish but you can also put on your eyes. The Cloud Paint colours are what everyone raves about so stay tuned for a review on them!

    Recently tried but don’t love

Concealer | Tarte’s Shape Tape Concealer $27 USD

My husband and I went down to Buffalo as a mini-vacay recently and I got this concealer down there as it’s exclusive to Ulta Beauty stores. Everyone raves about this product so I was excited to try it but I find the coverage too thick for me. The finish is also not as smooth as the Nars soft-matte. This might be great if I’m having a terrible skin day but otherwise it’s not my favourite.

Bronzer | Benefit Hoola Matte Bronzer $38

I may be the only person in the world who doesn’t like this bronzer. It is so well reviewed and comes highly recommended by all the beauty bloggers but I find that the colour just doesn’t work for me- it looks unnatural and it doesn’t blend well into my skin. Admittedly I have an ongoing problem with applying both bronzer and blush because I feel they don’t apply well on me. I blend and blend and eventually the product is gone OR all over my face and I’ve rubbed my foundation off underneath.

    Blush & Eyeshadow in 1 | RMS Beauty Lip2Cheek in Smile $45

As a natural product that is 2-in-1 I wanted to love this product so badly but sadly it’s not what I’m looking for. My ideal summer blush has a dewy finish and doubles as a lip colour that also has staying power but this blush has a matte finish which I don’t like. If you like a matte finish on your cheeks then you’ll love this product! I might try to mix it with the RMS luminizer mentioned above to get the finish I want.

    Excited to Try

    Glossier!

I’m a bit late to the boat on the Glossier craze but I’ve had my hands and makeup bag full with trying the above products. Now that summer is approaching I would love a lighter and dewy look so Glossier is the natural place to look for that. I’m going to the Glossier showroom in New York in a couple weeks but until then I found a great deal on some products that I got shipped for free to Canada! Glossier does a great job on creating deals if you buy more so I took advantage of that. I literally received this 5 minutes ago and I’m loving the Cloud Paint in Dusk and the Boy Brow!

You can get 10% off Glossier if you click through to their site using this link

    Blush | Glossier’s Cloud Paint in Dusk & Puff $22 or 2 for $36

This liquid blush comes in only 4 shades but if you look at a million pictures of everyone wearing them you’ll see that they’re all incredibly versatile! I’m excited to try the colour dusk which also doubles a bronzer and seems to give the perfect summer glow. I also ordered “puff” a sweet pink that I’m hoping gives me a youthful and bright glow.

Highlighter | Glossier’s Haloscope in Moonstone $27 or add to a duo to save $7

Yes I know I’m obsessed with a dewy finish and this looks like the queen of highlighters! I took a risk and got this in “Moonstone” which I think looks amazing. It’s a cool, almost silver based highlighter and looks the most interesting to me. They have two other colours Topaz for a sun-kissed glow and Quartz for a universally flattering pearl colour.

Brow Gel | Glossier’s Boy Brow in Brown $20 or add to a duo to save $7

I recently got my eyebrows micro-bladed so I don’t use eyebrow products anymore but this came as a duo deal with the highlighter so I’m excited to see what it’s like. The Boy Brow is arguably what put Glossier on the makeup map as a must-have so I’ve always been curious about it.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this post. I’ve left out a few essential items because they’re not part of the sale or aren’t anything new like my mascara and current favourite eyeshadow.
