When the first picture of Sézane’s Pre-spring preview came out on instagram I remember gasping out loud. The picture (above) featured the most beautiful white dress (which sold out within 15 minutes of the US release this morning), three new bags, and two other outfits with amazing colours and prints. Sézane made sure to include a knit which they are famous for along with a classic dress shirt (the Florence) in a new print. The brand loves to surprise their customers with a “gift” that comes along with the first purchase of the season. In the past it’s been a tote bag and more recently a scarf in a new print that represents the season. Is the Florence shirt a representative of the new print? We will find out soon.

After this beautiful photo was released we caught more glimpses of the beautiful look book and theme of this pre-spring collection: Havana. This is probably one of the prettiest collections and look books I’ve seen from Sézane for a while. The fresh, sexy and delicate designs are contrasted by the raw cityscape of an old city and tropical location which adds amazing texture and an almost historic feel to the collection. This is very appropriate given how Morgane Sezalory, the founder of Sézane, started her business selling vintage clothing. The fabric, the colours, and the texture of the designs of Pre-Spring are beautiful and if they’re saving the best for their full Spring collection prepare to be amazed!

    What I Bought

I am currently 5 months pregnant so I’m forced to hold back but one item I know I will love right now while it’s long enough and immediately after baby boy is born is the stunning Christina top! Currently my needs for tops are: length and nursing-friendly and this hits those. What makes me fall in love with this top is the metallic rainbow stripe. I literally cannot resist this style and it reminds me of the Augusta maxi dress that I bought and love from last year.

My other favourites include the beautiful lace blouses we see along with the delicate floral prints. Shop all my favourites below!

    The Dresses

As I mentioned the Guillemette dress sold out in 15 minutes but let’s have a look at the many gems that remain. One of my favourites is the Pauline dress which Sézane must love too because it comes in four colours: stripes/coffee, black, nude, and lurex. What I love so much about Sézane is their boldness to play with different fabrics on the same dress. It’s a tough thing to do in design given how the different weight, movement, thickness of fabric can completely change a design but the brand is fearless and it pays off. You can easily buy all four colours because they’re so different!

Sézane also indulges us with more silk, classic prints like stripes and polka dots, playful ruffles, a few fresh floral prints and even a little gold. The Alba and Armelle have a gorgeous subtle metallic gold in the print that you can barely see in the photos but can see in the composition: 15% metallic fibres making these the perfect going-out dresses.

    Tops

One of the first things that made me love Sézane was the quality and design of their beautiful lace. My Ninon blouse was my first purchase and it’s still one of my favourites. If you’re a sucker for lace too Sézane delivered some gorgeous options: Brigitte, Emma, Marta.

I also go weak in the knees for anything feminine and floral and which makes me feel like this collection was made for me. Shop all the pretty tops below including great options for work and weekend.

    Accessories

Sézane started their Pre-Spring collection similarly to their Fall where they released bags first. The French brand released two new bags with fresh round silhouettes: The Ama & Mona which has two colours and different straps, the honey coloured one with a regular strap like the rest of the bag and the Terracotta colour which has a wooden beaded handle. They also added a new size to their popular Victor bag! Welcome Grand Victor to the colleciton.

Along with some more sandals, we also see basket bags which is a sure sign that Spring is almost here! Shop the accessories below

    Knits

It may seem like a silly idea to buy knits at this time of year, less so for this Canadian who just experienced a snow storm yesterday, but some of my favourite knits have been from their Pre-spring and Spring collections. I’ve loved my Crepin and Loanne from last year and this year they’ve updated the styles to the Matthias with buttons down the back instead of the bow from Crepin. The Maelan jumper is reminiscent of last year’s Loanne with the lace inserts and deep v-neck. Both the Matthias and Maelan have a composition of 50% wool and 50% cotton which is my favourite knit combo Sézane has ever produced.

    Still to come

We see hints of sandals and basket bags, and wooden jewelry styled with all of the pre-spring pieces so we can look forward to those in a couple weeks.
