    A Love Letter to Summer…

I don’t really love summer. In February and March, I long for warmer weather yes but as soon as the hot, humid weather is here my biggest wish is fall, jeans, and yes, pumpkin spice lattes. But this was the first summer that I felt comfortable. In June we had our baby boy and were able to spend almost all of the hot season at our cottage in Northern Ontario that we bought earlier this year. It’s there where I nursed my baby boy by the water and figured out how to become a mom of three. It was an amazing transition that was helped by nature, more space for the kids to run around, and beautiful clothing.

Even though I had just had a baby, throughout my pregnancy I found some amazing dresses that made me feel comfortable thanks to brands like Dôen and Christy Dawn who consider all stages of motherhood in their designs. I was able to nurse my sweet boy, play in the sand, and water, watch my girls swim, my husband fish, and sit by the campfire all in pretty sun dresses. Clothing that made me feel beautiful just weeks after having a baby, through the tiredness and the long recovery. As we say goodbye to summer I say goodbye to my dresses in pure form – before I layer them with tights, boots, and sweaters. And remember how they were a part of a great season of life for me. A summer I actually loved and will miss.
