I look forward to the new season’s trends every few months. It’s so fun to see what styles and ideas come to the forefront of fashion. The trends are cyclical so we’ve seen them before but there’s always a new spin on how to wear them. The Prep trend is all about button downs, blazers, short a-line skirts, vests, loafers, ie. what you would wear to a country club but all a little… undone. The button downs and blazers are oversized, the a-line skirts are worn with cropped sweatshirts, loafers are chunky, and the vests are worn on their own, cropped or structured. Vests are the new top.
I love picking and choosing the pieces of the new trends that work for me. While I’ll leave an over-sized button-down and short a-line skirts to others, I will fully embrace oversized blazers, loafers, and vests. What is also nice about cyclical trends is that you can always find the classics second-hand. The blazer and loafers in this outfit are thrifted. Rather I got the blazer from a free pile at a garage sale. It’s wool and is the most amazing quality. I wore the blazer with my sweet sundress to extend the life of my summer wardrobe but also to provide a lovely contrast between structured and flow. Loafers make this outfit really lean into the Prep trend.
Check your local thrift store for your favorite styles from this trend and shop some gorgeous Prep trend pieces that I’ve curated below!
