    What are the Archives?

It’s time for the Sézane archives! Excusez-moi? If you are new to Sézane the archives are a clearance sale that happens online. It features items from previous seasons that are leftover. We were given a hint of what was to be expected in the weekly Wednesday news and beyond the classic pieces in discontinued colours (see the Farrow bag, and Tiger bag below), the rest of the items look like they’re from over 9 months ago! What does this mean? We can get a beautiful Sézane item for a discount and perhaps something we regretted not buying that has been haunting us for a year!

** Updates, Videos, and New Archive Highlights at bottom of post

    The Archives

    • Are a seasonal clearance sale featuring items from previous collections not including the current spring or summer collection (think Spring/Summer 2017, Fall 2017)
    • According to Sézane’s instagram, this year the Archive sale will last until the beginning of July. No word on if this is until supplies last OR if they have a second release of Archives. Sézane likes to surprise.
    • Organized by size so shop your typical dress size, or shoe size. To get an idea of sizing check out my Sézane video playlist on Youtube where I review Sézane. Shop with me at the Sézane store, and view haul videos where I try things on and talk fabric, sizing, and fit.
    • 10% of all sales go to their charity initiative, Demain

     What’s Different this Year

From what I’ve heard from other experienced Sézane shoppers, archives for the summer typically arrive in July which coincides with North America’s summer clearance time but this season it seems it was decided to combine the archive sale with the monthly Demain initiative. On the 21st of every month a new item is released and proceeds of the sale along with 10% of the rest of the online store go to Sézane’s charity project, Demain. Demain means “tomorrow” in French and is a program that works with global charities to provide better opportunities for disadvantaged children through education and culture. So, along with new releases, restocks, and returns is a clearance sale that Sézane addicts wait months for! I think the internet is going to break for this one! So grab a cup of coffee and let’s shop!

    Tips for Shopping the Sale

    1. Look at bigger and smaller sizes. Like many retailers, Sézane manufactures their clothing at a few different factories. With that in mind and considering different fabric, items are going to fit differently. I’m a size 36 french but I have gone up to a 38 and gone down to a 34 if Sézane recommends it. You can find this recommendation under the sizing tab on the product page. Hint! Typically if there is no closure, ex. zipper, buttons, etc. to get into the dress it will fit large so that you can get into it. A good example is the Celeste dress which I own in a size 34 French (2 US). It is back in red and is one of my FAVOURITE dresses!
    2. “In Someone’s Basket” means there’s still a chance you can grab the item. When you add an item to your cart it is reserved for 20 minutes- there’s a timer when you look at your entire cart. That being said, the timer restarts every item you add an item to your cart. So theoretically if you add something every 20 minutes you can shop all day. However if you remove the later-added items your clock goes down to when you added the previous. Once you decide to process your order you have a new timer with 15 minutes to check out.
    3. Keep checking back. Sézane allows you to cancel your order within 1 hour of purchasing and I have done this a few times. Making quick decisions can be difficult!
    4. Look for classics that will never go out of style. When shopping previous collections I think it’s a good strategy to find a classic style. For example I just purchased the Agathe Dress and I have no idea what season it’s from because I don’t recognize the model or photoshoot but it’s timeless! I’ve been looking for a black dress that’s interesting and I’m so happy I snapped this up!

**Highlights of the Archives: Part 2!

Wednesday, June 27th Sézane released their second batch of archives. Depending on where you live, you shop Sézane’s site in either 1. International 2. US 3. EU 4. UK and 5. FR. On Wednesdays when Sézane releases new stock, returns, and the Archives in this case on their site you can see a stock difference between the “countries”. Sézane is patriotic and allows France to have most of the new stock. I’ve noticed between US and France the Archive stock is different. I’m currently staring at the beautiful Ninon blouse in Raspberry which is available in France but not in US. This is very patriotic but I would love a chance at shopping this gorgeous blouse! At 10am Sézane says they will release new stock for the US so we will see if the Ninon is amongst them! I own the Ecru version and it’s one of my favourite tops so snap this up if you can!

That all being said, highlights of the Archives Part 2 include some new leather goods and shoes but there’s not much new in clothing. Sézane’s purses and bags, including basket bags, can be found under the “Leather Goods” menu item. In it I happily found the Nicolas bag– the perfect round bag that’s been on my mind since I saw it during my New York shopping trip to Sézane. I’ve been wanting a round bag for a long time so I’m happy to add this to my collection. The jacket section also got a refresh with some gorgeous pieces so shop that below! We will see what 10am brings for US stock!

What I splurged on at the Archives

I was browsing the Sézane website last night and there was a weird moment where it showed bags as out of stock but when you went to the description page they had a blurb about the Sézane archives so I somehow got a sneak peek into this mornings new additions! The bag I had my eye on and went directly to this morning was the Nicolas bag. The perfect round bag! I can’t wait to wear it out! I also got the Adeline blouse which I put away last week and regretted and the Arielle necklace! I remember looking at this necklace online last Christmas and thought it was so beautiful so I’m so excited to add it to my collection!
