I’ve found some really great brands lately. Dôen, Sézane, Everlane, Roolee, Vetta, and Christy Dawn for example. Each of these are more than just brands, they have charity initiatives, cater to real women and moms, and have responsible practices. Every week for the next I’ll be featuring each of these brands chatting about what I love about them and what I would love to try more of. As always watch for unboxing and try-on videos on my YouTube channel! Please enjoy the feature on Dôen below.

Dôen is a brand that is all about women. Sisters, Margaret and Katherine Kleveland started the female-run collective when they felt there was a gap of women at the helm of fashion brands. Inspired by vintage and their native California, they create elevated yet wearable pieces which I can attest to. I’m currently wearing their Albertine top and it is beautiful and completely comfortable. The collective aim to support women in the workplace through their organization, supply chain and community. Their instagram features real women who wear their pieces along with my favourite part of their website – the Journal. More than a blog, the Journal feature real, inspiring women modelling their clothing from personal friends and indie artists to celebrities like Ricki Lake, Minka Kelly, and Michelle Monaghan.
Their gorgeous items are sold online but Dôen often has pop-ups which you can be notified of through their newsletter and social media so attend if you’re lucky enough to have one near you!
As a brand about supporting women Dôen’s mission is to close the gender-gap in the countries they manufacture their clothing in. They are partners with Room to Read, a charity which promotes literacy and gender inequality in Asia and Africa. Each season Dôen produces a kids line and 100% of the proceeds go to Room to Read. I recently bought my oldest daughter the Rainbow Strawberry Dress and it is beautiful and comfortable.
I have a trip to New York in my future and I plan to order a couple of their exquisite dresses to my hotel room. Unfortunately their high shipping costs prevent me from ordering into Canada. Lowering shipping costs is something they’re working on and my first order was during a promotion where they paid international shipping and duty so fingers crossed that happens again!
