There are some trends that I immediately say, “nope!” to and culottes was one of them. I’m 5’3″ and I thought these glorified flood pants were a bad idea. Like almost all trends that stick around, my mind was changed a few seasons later. I was attracted to more and more styles and decided to make the plunge to at least try them on. I WAS HOOKED. How cute are these? I’m surprised at how tall I look in this photo and I can’t believe culottes have that effect. What is nice about a trend after a couple seasons is the variations it takes on. High-waisted, paper-bag waist, elastic-waist, stripes, super-wide legs- you will find something that works for you. For me the trick was to find some that were high-waisted with a leg-width that’s proportionate to my body. After some shopping I landed these ones from Zara. I originally got them in a stripe which I loved but they were see-thru so I’m still on the hunt for that.
I paired my culottes with a striped off-the-shoulder shirt, vintage shoes, and a bold star-graphic purse to keep things monochromatic but still interesting. I’ve warn this outfit so many times on date nights. out with friends, etc. It’s on repeat for as long as the weather allows! For outfit details see, “Shop the Post” below.
