A Dôen release is like getting a new magazine or sitting down to watch a show you know you’ll love. I always have to coordinate a few things to be able to sit down and enjoy it: make sure my kids are occupied and have enough snacks, I like to have those daily chores done, etc. And then I grab a cup of coffee and refresh a couple minutes early always hoping for a lucky preview.

What I love about the Dôen launch is when the front page is refreshed! They always have a large, gorgeous picture on their page that reflects the current collection so seeing the new one feels a bit like Christmas. I also, always eagerly await the newsletter that accompanies the release to hear the story and inspiration behind these gorgeous designs. It’s not enough that their clothes are beautiful, we see beauty from lots of brands, but what Dôen is so good at is weaving stories, incorporating family, and helping you see yourself placed there in a garden, or at the cottage by the lake, or high-up looking over the sea. Dôen has famously traveled for their photoshoots, transporting us to France and Australia but because of the pandemic we see pictures from the models’ homes and neighbourhoods. The brand paired up with 5 women who inspire them to create this story for all of us to enjoy.

I think this collection had something for everyone. There was a very wide range of items from a gorgeous hand-crocheted dress that would be the highlight of any boho closet to a pyjama set made in a favourite print from last winter (which I’m personally happy to see). We were given more romantic liberty prints, work staples (the Scarlet would get you voted most stylish in your office), old favourites like the Albertine, and new versions of our favourites like the Fraise.

One thing to note about this collection and this sweater in particular is that it’s made of recycled fibres! The Verona is made of recycled wool, viscose, and polyamide as with the Marlow. And amazingly, recycled cashmere is used in the Nicola sweaters!

The Nicola cardigans have flowers and strawberries have a vintage grandma vibe which I’m not sure I could pull off but I love paired with the romantic nightgowns and the intricate Albertine top. This is one of my favourite styling moments.

    What I Bought

    | Verona

The weather is starting to drop here so I was ready for Dôen’s beautiful knitwear and they did not disappoint! The first thing in my cart was the Verona in larkspur – a beautiful blue. I love style names so I was quick to google the name to find a really pretty and vibrant flower. If you close up on the sweater you’ll see a multicoloured thread that runs throughout. One of my favourite sweaters from Dôen, the Bea Sweater, has this and it’s one of my favourite features.

Doen Fraise dress | Kait Bos Blog

    | Fraise

I would’ve gotten a million dresses, the Darcy, Acton and Olympia were just some that I loved but alas it’s almost winter in Canada so I had to be practical. I DID get one dress though because I couldn’t resist: the Fraise. Which they consider a nightgown but I fully intend to wear out. The Fraise is based off of the Albertine which has been one of their most popular designs. One of my first tops was the Albertine and I own the Georgia dress which is a mini-dress version of this victorian style. I love every detail about this style from the puff sleeve and lace insets to the length! I’m so happy to see a midi length for this style of dress.

    | Plum

The plum top is one of their original styles. What I love so much about Dôen is they often revisit favourites and sometimes make new styles out of them. This top is very pretty and understated. Dôen says it best in the listing, “The Plum top has the easiest everyday silhouette with the best little details, including a ruffled collar, smocking, pintucks, and traditional shirt cuffs to keep it down to earth. Sweet (but not too sweet).” Dark floral to me is timeless so I know I’m going to get a lot of use out of this top. It’s the perfect blouse for me for winter (as it’s covering every inch of my body) but the colour palette suits the season but it still remains cheerful. I think this would be a great blouse to wear for the casual holiday events I’ll spend with family.

    | Frances

This top is actually from the Summer collection and it was restocked yesterday so I was happy to rediscover it! I’ve always liked this Frances top. I find the fabric and embroidery very dreamy. It sold out very quickly when it first came out so I definitely missed out on it. I think it will pair well with the Verona!

    | Kami

And finally the Dôen Kami tank in golden sweetpea. I got the rosie sweatpea (white background, pink floral) version of this in the summer and it’s been one of my most worn items. This tank comes in a lot of colours but only these prints for now and I adore the floral. The details on this top are amazing. Dôen does a great job making basics special.

    Wishlist

    | Paz Pyjamas

Ohhh I was so happy to see these! It’s officially freezing here and nothing makes me happier right now then cozy pyjamas. I would love to wear these pajamas during chilly nights in the fall and winter.

    | Liberty prints

Oooh these prints are beautiful! The Darcy is almost sold out and with good reason. The large ruffle elastic neck that can be worn as off the shoulder is charming.

The Opal is still a dress I adore from the last release. This pattern is absolutely gorgeous with it’s bold green and pink which is one of my favourite colour combos.

    Sneaky Peeks & Styling Favs

    doen brighton sweaters

    | Brighton or Cardiff Cardigan

High up on my list is a cream sweater and I’m debating between the cardiff and the Brighton that are both coming in the next Fall release. The Brighton has been styled with soooo many items in this collection which makes me think this will be my next knit purchase.

    doen albertine and nicola cardigan

The Nicola cardigans have flowers and strawberries have a vintage grandma vibe which I’m not sure I could pull off but I love paired with the romantic nightgowns and the intricate Albertine top. This is one of my favourite styling moments.

    doen forget-me-knot cardigan

They have a sweater called the, “Forget-me-not” coming that has a similar floral design as the Nicola. I love all of these red sweaters! Picture found in the Blythe listing.

    doen risette cardigan
    doen risette cardigan

The colours of these Risette cardigans in emerald and mustard are amaaaazing! I hope there isn’t a third colours because I may need them all. Top picture found in the Jane listing and bottom image found in the Netta listing.

This was such a fun and unexpected combo of the new striped Sparrow top and the Hue sweater! I love these two items together!

It was a beautiful collection full of so many beautiful pieces. I can’t wait to see how everyone in the Dôen community styles their clothing from this collection.
