My husband, Wes, is a web developer and has a podcast where he and his Colorado co-host Scott Tolinski spill everything about web development. They have a special episode coming up with what we all want to know: what to get guys for Christmas! Their podcast (airing Wednesday November 28) details over 60 ideas ranging from food to experiences to higher end gifts – 99% of which they own, use, and love. This is just a small preview with what Wes loves and what we think any guy would enjoy for Christmas.

    1 | Google Home

We love our google home! It’s a home base for music, TV and all things smart home like our lights. Who remembers the Friend’s episode where Monica dated Pete and he had voice-activated lights? “Romantic Lights!” We have that with google home! Along with our lights and tv google home can also tell our kids what a kangaroo sounds like. You’re curious now too aren’t you?! You can also get the google home mini version which is a little less space-invasive.

    2 | Champion Hoodie

Wes loves a good quality hoodie. Being Canadian we need and love our warm comfy clothing and this trendy hoodie will be well-loved by the guy in your life. Wanna twin with your guy? The champion hoodie is also available in female-friendly sizes here.

3 | Beat the Bank: The Canadian Guide to Simply Successful Investing

Wes has always had an interest in how money is made and quickly calculated at 12 that he could make more money cutting grass than his paper route. He moved on to sell burnt cd’s and make websites for his friends’ bands.  Today Wes is a happy entrepreneur with his own business. This book is a modern look at investing for Canadians with all types of budgets and we’ve found it so useful in planning our finances.

    4 | Under Armour Underwear

Wes loves to be comfortable so he’s pretty picky about what he wears and sits on. His motto is “never cheap out on underwear” so although these are more than your regular pair you’re going to love them.

5 | Naked & Famous Weird Guy Jeans

Wes is a demin head and has been wearing these raw Japanese selvedge jeans for over 8 years. He loves finding a good quality pair of jeans and wearing them until they deteriorate. Part of his love for raw denim is the opportunity to make your mark on the jeans- they wear with your lifestyle. So every mark and crease is all about you. These take some time to wear in but when they do they mold to you like butter. Go “skinny guy” if you like them fitted, “super skinny guy” if you like them painted on

    6 | Uniqlo Plaid shirt

Wes forgot to mention his favourite shirt in the podcast! This Uniqlo flannel shirt has become a staple in his wardrobe. He has 4 or 5 different colours and patterns of this comfy shirt that’s easy without being sloppy. These are fitted but true to size. Wes wears his usual medium size.

    7 | Ring Doorbell Pro

This camera and doorbell in one let’s us know what’s happening in our front yard so we can be excited about our latest purchase or the pizza coming up the walk. I can’t tell you how many times it’s come in handy when someone is early at our house or a package needs confirmation and we can just talk through our doorbell to the visitor.

    8 | Nike Air Max 270 Sneakers

As hard as Wes is on his Jeans he’s equally hard on his shoes. We’ve been adopting a, “buy less but better” motto and these definitely fit the requirements. Wes has blown through so many shoes

    9 | Mirrored Rayban Wayfarers

These are one of Wes’s favourite things. He’s loved raybans for a while but the mirrored lenses match his fun personality. If you’re looking for something cool but still classic these are a good bet. Plus the wayfarer style looks good on most people! (Including me – I often steal his glasses).
