A New Staple: Over the Knee Boots

I’ve liked over-the-knee boots for a while but the inevitable problems are apparent: are they going to stay up? Will they be flattering? Is suede a good idea? Will leather ones make me look like a “lady of the night”? In September I tried on faux leather ones from Zara. I was unsure of them, and as I walked over to my husband to ask his thoughts they slowly (or quickly) lowered to be under-the-knee boots. That’s no good, I thought, along with my husbands face of utter confusion confirmed that I would return them. Two months later, while shopping in Marshall’s in NYC, I happened upon these beautiful suede-like OTK’s by Marc Fisher- a brand that I’ve been following and researching but couldn’t find physically to check them out. I looked at the price tag, $60 USD… pardon? In disbelief I walked around the store with one of them on (as you do) to test them out, google them, and wrack my brain with my closet contents to make sure I would have enough outfits for them. The biggest risk to me was that they were navy and black and grey are my go-to base neutrals. I mentally made outfits that would work and I bought them thinking, “If Wes doesn’t like them too bad! They’re fab!”

Two months later I’ve worn these a ton! They’ve also helped me wear my dresses in the winter and in Canada that’s a pretty big feat. And Wes likes them too! I have re-laced the back of them maybe three times which is impressive considering how much I wear them. I’m seriously tempted to get the same ones in black.

What do you think? Would you purchase OTK boots?
