In the summer, Morgane Sezalory, the founder of Sézane, mentioned that the brand will be going under a “renaissance” for the fall. They made an announcement that they were going back to their roots and it’s taken Morgane years to grasp what the brand is. Then Sézane closed their boutique doors for August for the month-long holiday the French are famous for. Morgane Sezalory started her fashion career by accident when she started selling her sister’s abandoned vintage clothing on ebay. From there she developed, “Les Composantes” which was a line of altered-vintage clothing that debuted at a certain time of the week. She often sold out of everything quickly and decided to start her own brand, “Sezane” a combination of her first and last name.
We impatiently waited to see what September would bring grasping onto any hint of the fall renaissance. Days before the collection debuted Sézane deleted every single instagram photo from their social media account and declared it was time to start over. DRAMA! The first step in their new direction was releasing their Heritage Bag Collection for pre-order. The collection, called “La Maroquinerie”, is
“reimagined ‘heritage’ pieces- leather goods deigned to grow more beautiful with time- to become companions inséparable”
Finally we got to see the Look books and it was beautiful. People often chose their favourite between the two look books: Act 1 and Act 2 but in both we found the classics, their shirts and sweaters everyone loves, dreamy fall dresses and pieces that are obviously influenced by vintage. Below I’ve collected my favourite items along with themes and trends that I’ve found. Happy Shopping!
My Favourites
I’m trying to shop a bit more slowly this fall so I’ve only added two pieces to my collection so far: Winnie Sweater and the Lea Boot in studded sienna. Although and it was a hard decision to make I found my visual wish list (just update!) helped me figure out what would work best with my existing and new fall purchases. I’ve loved the Lea boot for a while and intended to get it in black studded but decided to work with the pink theme within my fall wardrobe rather than add to my growing number of black boots. It’s a risk but I think it will all work together. The Winnie Sweater is a piece that I immediately fell in love with and was the first addition to my cart. I love the colours of this knit and have admired this wavy graphic design ever since Sézane released their Casey Sweater in the Spring.

We experience a pink Fall! Sézane released a lot of new colours and the ones that stand out are the sweet shades of pink: blush, sienna, peony.
Sézane loves a good polka-dot! We’ve been seeing these “peas” since the spring and for pre-fall we have some classic black and white versions but the stand-out is the sky-blue.
Sézane is well-loved for the quality of their knitwear. Last year I took a break from buying sweaters (or “pulls” as the french say) because I found it impossible to find something that was good quality for $200. In the spring I took a chance and ordered 3 knits, the Loanne, Crepin, and Cassiopee and the quality is amazing! For this collection Sézane reintroduced their famous Barry sweater in SIX different colours (yes that Barry sweater that had a 30,000 person waitlist) and they plan to bring back the Charles, Gaspar, among others. Shop their beautiful knits below.
This is Sézane’s pre-fall collection but we’ve seen hints of what’s to come in the look book and within the denim and bottoms section of Sézane. Note the tops and jackets styled with the jeans below:
From classic wrap dresses to lace shift dresses Sezane has some beautiful options if you’re looking for a new Fall Dress!
