The straw bag trend hit me hard this summer. It’s a relaxed and easy accessory to add to your summer wardrobe – it goes with everything! I found this gorgeous bag at Salvation Army for $5 at the end of summer and thought that the dark colour and structure could easily work for fall! Straw bags have been all over the runways this season so this trend has some staying power. Below I have some tips on how to wear this bag for fall and some gorgeous bags in the slider at the bottom of the page.

    1. Straw + another trend

Cover all your bases and pick a straw bag that is also part of another trend. Circular bags are super popular lately so try a straw bag in this shape. Imagine a round bag paired with your favourite grey wool coat.

    2. Find a bag with structure

Summer totes are like the season, flexible, fun and  breezy. Fall means back into routine and delicious layers of clothing so consider a more structured tote to go with the season.

    3. Add an autumn accessory

Speaking of layers, simply add a autumnal scarf to your summer tote and you’re ready to go. This is the age of customization so by adding your own charms, scarves, flair, etc. you can really make any bag your own and seasonally appropriate.

    4. Play with pattern

You can’t get more fall than a plaid pattern! This is also a good option if you’re not quite ready to commit to a patterned coat. You can also try a bag with gorgeous fall-coloured flowers on it like the ones featured below.
