Dôen Billie Plaid Top (Same plaid in Jane & Thistle) | Topshop Straight Leg Jeans | Sézane Lea Boot | Sézane Claude Bag
I often joke about how un-Canadian I am- not a hockey fan, I don’t like poutine, and I don’t own any plaid… until now! A plaid shirt is a uniform around here as soon as the weather turns cold and I’m excited to find a plaid that I’m excited about in a style that is feminine and unique. Below I have three tips to spice up your old plaid shirt or if you’re in the market for a new one.
Plaids are usually colourful so pick a colour from your shirt and put it on your feet. For this look I paired my Sézane Lea Boot in a sienna colour that works well with the faded red in the top. If your plaid shirt lacks colour then use it as an opportunity to add a pop! I love the subtle pink version of the Sezane Lea or wow everyone with the red Paula boot.
A great way to spice up your plaid shirt is to pair it with new jeans. Try these high-waisted vintage-inspired ones from Topshop or add a clean and classic vibe with my new favourites from Everlane.
I recently made a video on how to style this top and one way was underneath a plain-coloured knit (see video below). This top isn’t very long so I found a cropped sweater to complete the look and let the bottom of the shirt peek out. The ruffled collar of this top is so cute it’s a great way to highlight the sweet detail.
