What I Wore this Week! I am so happy to share my outfits daily with you through my Kait Bos Edit Instagram. This is my Innika Choo Nev Erontym dress. It's a skirt and dress in one so it's very versatile. I love wearing this summer dress.

    | Innika Choo Nev Erontym Dress/Skirt

Nev Erontym! I love Innika Choo’s puns for the names of her designs! This is a skirt AND dress in one and definitely worthy of wearing it both ways. I’ve seen and tried many 2-in-1/versatile/”wear it backwards too” items and usually prefer one way of wearing them. There are MANY elements that make this style so successful…

What I Wore this Week! I am so happy to share my outfits daily with you through my Kait Bos Edit Instagram. This is my Doen Marina Dress! It's silk with a beautiful floral and butterfly print. This is a lovely silk summer dress.

    | Dôen Marina Dress

Marina! This is a special dress by @shopdoen. When I put it on this morning I actually became very sad because I couldn’t take this gal out for the good time she deserves. I dress mainly for myself. I’m lucky to be a stay-at-home mom and I vlog/blog/insta for fun so a lot of the time (especially now) it’s only social media and my family that sees what I wear. This has never been a driving factor for what I choose to wear with the exception of pieces like this. This dress made me homesick for pre-pandemic life. It’s Sunday so I would’ve worn this to church. I would’ve seen all my friends and their families. I would’ve chased Poppy around the pews and finally convinced her to sit down by challenging her to find all the butterflies on my dress. I would’ve prayed that Kit napped a little during the service in his stroller. I used to rock him in the service moving the stroller for the kids that would race up the aisle. And then we would’ve visited with @wesbos’s family after church while the girl’s played in their backyard. We would chat about life over coffee and pie. I would finally get Kit to sleep there taking an extra couple minutes to rock him while enjoying the feeling of the silk on my legs. Then we would go home after our long day and I would hang up this dress and be tired but thankful for this ordinary day. Thankful that this dress added one of the lovely elements to my day.

I got this dress when we started isolation and moved up to our cottage which is a huge privilege. We had never spent spring here before (we’ve had the cottage for a year) so we watched as the season brought us blue jays, robins, flower buds, lilac trees and butterflies! In a newsletter Dôen mentioned that the papillon floral print is inspired by spring in California when the orange butterflies, called painted ladies, finally appear in gardens. I remember wearing this dress outside and a butterfly float passed me and, like many signs of spring, felt some hope for our future.

This isn’t much of a formal clothing review but I think it speaks to how our clothing can make us feel and create memories.

What I Wore this Week! I am so happy to share my outfits daily with you through my Kait Bos Edit Instagram. This is my Innika Choo Anita Eayte Top. It's a frill blouse with a gingham pattern. It's picnic ready and perfect as a summer outfit idea.

    | Innika Choo Anita Eayte Top

Anita Eayte! Again @innikachoo names 😂. I’M SO HAPPY IT’S COOL ENOUGH TO WEAR JEANS. We’ve had such a long heatwave that it was nice to put on a comfy pair of denim this morning. The star of this outfit is this top that I fell in love with after I saw @jessie_loeffler_randall wear the pink version (which I also have). I got this yellow honeycomb check in the ISO sale Innika Choo had in May. I love the v-shaped ruffle in the front which gets quite dramatic on the shoulder. The shape this creates is very flattering especially considering it’s a boxy cut. The sleeves are the perfect amount of volume for a good puff. And the elastic sleeves are very comfortable. Overall LOVE. I have this in a size 0 which works for my narrow shoulders.

What I Wore this Week! I am so happy to share my outfits daily with you through my Kait Bos Edit Instagram. This is my Sea New York Lucy dress. I love this green summer dress. It's made of Ramie and the loose silhouette makes it the perfect house dress.

    | Sea New York Lucy Dress

Lucy! The style of the dress is really relaxed and has a drop-waist which I’ve never opted for because I’m 5’3″ so I figured it would shorten me. Worn as is, the placement of the waist seam allows the dress to be comfortable and prevents the dress from falling easily into messes versus a true-waist or empire waisted dress. The placement of the waist seam does allow for a good belted moment as you can see. I love the pretty tiered skirt and the pleating that is repeated on the sleeve and bodice. If you’ve followed me for a while you know that I love a puffy sleeve and this one is gorgeous. The bottom of the sleeve is loose and is elastic so it’s comfortable. I saw a few people online talk about their love of the silhouette of this dress which is what I really like too. I’m often pulled toward voluminous styles and this one, in my normal size (4) has just the right amount of fabric.

What I Wore this Week! I am so happy to share my outfits daily with you through my Kait Bos Edit Instagram. This is my Doen Yarrow dress. I love a plaid dress in the summer! I got this doen dress second hand off ebay.

    | Dôen Yarrow Dress

Yarrow! This @shopdoen dress is an old favourite and something I will definitely hand down to my kids. The first dress I got for my daughter, Lux, was the strawberry dress in this fabric 2.5 years ago. She wanted to dress like a rainbow at the time (still does) so I thought it was perfect. She loooooved it. The plaid fabric was so soft and happy and quickly became a favourite.

One of my favourite things Doen does is post about the inspiration behind the prints and designs they develop. They mentioned that this rainbow print was reminiscent of something their grandmother used to wear. To make such a beautiful fabric and print that is inspired by family is so romantic to me.

We had made so many great memories with Lux wearing this dress that I really wanted something for myself in the same fabric. I was definitely intimidated by the colourful pattern but then I found this dress on ebay for $100 so I had to try it!

When I got this dress I was 5 months pregnant and looking for clothing that I could wear after pregnancy too. This was my third child and I just wanted to look nice and be comfortable which was hard to do with my previous pregnancies with traditional maternity wear. I was so happy to have this dress in my life!

The neck and waistband are both drawstring and elastic making it very adjustable. I’m wearing an XS and it fit my 40lbs+ pregnancy body. The feeling of the plaid is so soft, almost a light flannel and the colours are muted giving it a lovely vintage vibe. The style and silhouette are classic. I’ll love this dress forever.

What I Wore this Week! I am so happy to share my outfits daily with you through my Kait Bos Edit Instagram. This is my Oak Meadow Rosamund Tea length dress. I love the longer length of this and that it's made of Organic cotton. Read my full post for the oak meadow clothing review.

    | Oak Meadow Rosamund Tea Dress

Rosamund! One of my favourite things is to be able to throw on a dress in a hurry and feel completely put together and this @oakmeadowclothing dress does that. I love this easy feminine style, the ruffle sleeve, and the “tea” length which is a mid-19th century term that means just below the knee. The organic cotton is dyed naturally and feels like a dream in this summer heat. The illustrated floral print is fun to browse. I get lost in trying to find roses that are the same- they all seem hand-painted separately. When I put this on I immediately feel elegant and pretty even if most of my day is chasing after marker/mustard/dirt-stained children. I love that this dress is along for the ride.

This Australian company is committed to working with the earth and manufactures their small batch collections ethically and sustainably. This is a beautiful company with a big heart. 10% of the sales of this dress is donated to “Every Mother Counts” an organisation that supports and provides safe pregnancy and birth spaces for women across the globe. I found out about Oak Meadow Clothing when the founder, Madeleine, said hi on instagram and then we chatted about fashion and how we have a similar style. She’s the kindest person!

Oak Meadow believes in slow fashion and advertises their clothing for year-round use. They often show creative layering ideas on their instagram so check them out for styling options! One thing they did was layer a thin knit under their wrap dress which was BRILLIANT! You can wear this dress layered over a long-sleeved t-shirt and backwards showing off the buttons.

What I Wore this Week! I am so happy to share my outfits daily with you through my Kait Bos Edit Instagram. This is my Innika Choo Nev Erontym dress and skirt in gingham. I love this ramie fabric and fun pattern. What a great summer outfit idea.

    | Innika Choo Nev Erontym Dress/Skirt

Nev Erontym #2! What makes a favourite item for you? In all honesty I have no idea! This @innikachoo dress/skirt/miracle is a favourite and it was totally unexpected. The pattern was different from what I was used to wearing but after seeing the founder, @Innika, wear this pattern in the tube dress style I thought I would try this one. Again, the founders/designers of my favourite brands know the good stuff! Surprisingly this is my favourite version of the Nev Erontym skirt and I find myself reaching for it a lot (I have it in pink and blue).

So what makes a favourite? There have been so many items that have become special to me after I was mainly unsure about them. There have also been many items that I’ve thought a lot about, made pro/con lists, deemed practical and a good buy by friends, and they sat in my closet or I returned because I wasn’t in love. I clearly have a terrible instinct for what I’m going to love unless I try it out and think about it.

I’ve spoken about the construction and style of the blue version of this dress/skirt in a previous post and on KaitBos.com so I’ll just speak to the difference which is the main fabric. This printed version is Ramie and I feel like I’ve been wearing a lot of ramie lately. Ramie is usually very easy to wear and has a casual wrinkly-ness that I’m fond of. I find this version flattering because it falls differently than the other colours which are linen. This fabric is thinner so it falls closer to the body with the help of the intricate embroidery which helps weigh it down and provides many fun twirly moments.

The pattern is called light gingham wallpaper and it has a green/blue and white gingham background, and then large navy and blue flowers layered on top of a solid beige background. I like this colour combination because you can wear both a white shirt and beige with it. I love wearing patterns because, with three kids, I spill stuff on myself all the time so patterns are very forgiving for my lifestyle. If you’re looking for this skirt/dress I’ve seen hints of a new version coming in her Regalia collection! It’s currently styled with the Norma Lee top in string in a beautiful neutral colour.
