Dôen’s November sale which they call the, Giving Thanks Sale, is a great one that I look forward to each year now. I thought I would put all of these items in one post and write about my first impressions, and just some facts about the sale. The Giving Thanks Sale sale started the day before Thanksgiving and the discount was 30-50% off early fall and summer items, excluding some pre-orders, and all sales were final.
My list included: the blue Luce top, golden Lapis nightgown, and the Francis and Clea dress in the black parc monceau print. I also got the Seville nightgown after being influenced by customer service (I always ask what’s on their list) and the Luna nightgown and Strawberry dress for my daughter.
Before the sale “unicorns” popped up on the site which were highly-sought after items but only a couple sizes were available. This led to the site being shut down due to technical difficulties a day before the sale. I did get to purchase last season’s Solaris in pink before the site went down. I own the white one and it’s one of the most romantic styles ever. I don’t have the Solaris in this post because I didn’t get it for a discount but I just thought I’d mention the one-off items that showed up before the sale. Plus I will review it with another non-sale nightgown I got – the Orchid – so stay tuned.

Pink Bisous Floral – Large. This was my biggest surprise of the sale. I got the large because the bust measurements were small and I totally thought it would be too long and I would have to alter the straps and hem it but I think it’s perfect! This feels like a day dress to me so I would love to try and wear it out. I have the jane in the same print and it’s semi-sheer but manageable with a slip. I need to find a slip I don’t mind wearing so that is one of my goals for the next few months. Send me your recommendations! The only trouble spot is the lace at the bust which folds down easily (see pics). I’ll need to secure it to the strap to stay up.
Blue Tisbury Paisley – Large. This is a cropped style so I sized up for length which I also did for the Sparrow top. This resulted in a lot of extra fabric in the bust area which I didn’t anticipate. I was staring at the top wondering how I can fix the excess fabric and then I tried it on backwards and that worked since there’s always less fabric on the back of tops!
Golden Sweetpea – Medium. This was my absolute favourite buy of the sale. I loooooved this nightgown when it first came out in the summer but it was too expensive so I was ecstatic to get it for 50% off. It’s incredibly soft and the colours are beautiful and feel retro to me. The sleeve length is perfect too. I wear my nightgowns late into the morning and I’m always busy with my little kids so my sleeves need to be short like this one or able to pull up. I have a friend who bought this and told me to size up as the embroidery isn’t as elastic as other styles like the Lovisa and I’m so glad I did. I LOVE this nightgown.
Black Parc Monceau – Small. I have the Francis in white in a small so I knew I would love the style. I wore this earlier this week so I mentioned that I got it because I don’t have any short-sleeved black blouses. It was between this and the Rose in the same print and I went with the Francis. This version fits a little bigger than my white one but not so much that it’s too large. I really like it layered under cardigans right now and the sleeve opening is big enough that’s it comfortable to do so.
Pomme et Poire – Medium. This was my late sale purchase. This set popped up in my size Monday night so I assume it was a canceled order. I’ve wanted this style of pyjama ever since they released the first two prints in the Prancing Fawn Floral. It’s incredibly practical and warm for my Canadian winters and I love the details! The peter pan collar and pockets with piping is very charming! I’m 5’3″ so the pants are a little long for me but the fit is otherwise perfect.
I don’t have pictures of the Clea (8), Luna (8), and Strawberry (10) but my daughter has worn the nightgown and Strawberry and they’re gorgeous. Lux is 5 but is very tall so wears anything from a 6 to an 8 in clothing. The Clea and Luna have some room for her to grow so I’m happy with the sizing. The Clea is absolutely gorgeous and I wish they made that version for adults. I think the same of the Strawberry dress which is my favourite style ever for girls. Lux has had it in three prints now and she loves it. I got her a size 10 and I have to roll up the sleeves a bit but she wore it two days in a row so it works!
