    The New Long-ish Jean Trend

I find trends in denim change slowly and slightly, we had skinny jeans, then high-waisted skinny, skinny -cropped, wide-leg cropped and straight-leg cropped, straight-leg ankle and now straight-leg long-ish…?

Jean trends are the toughest change for me to get on board with. Especially after being pregnant and not really being able to wear them. My automatic reaction when I see something new is, “NOPE, that’s weird”.  A large reason is because it affects and disrupts so much else in my wardrobe. How do my boots look now in this new length? How do my tops work with high-waisted jeans? I have to say high-waisted jeans were easy for me to get on board with. I found them immediately flattering for my 5’3″ frame. As for the longer hem…? For this trend to be successful with ankle boots they have to be long enough to be part of the trend but high enough to show a small amount of the ankle of the boot. Do you see how subtle this is?

For now I love this look with flats. I see how they lengthen my legs and I can still see all of my pretty shoes. If you’re on the petite side like me, sometimes this is a matter of not hemming your jeans. The pair I have on are considered “cropped” but actually fall at just the right spot on my ankle. It was very weird to try these on and walk out of the house without having to alter them but I love how they look.

What are your favourite pair of jeans right now?
