I love Innika Choo’s puns for the names of her designs! This is a skirt AND dress in one and definitely worthy of wearing it both ways. I’ve seen and tried many 2-in-1/versatile/”wear it backwards too” items and usually prefer one way of wearing them. There are MANY elements that make this style so successful:
The ramie fabric falls really nicely. The amount of fabric is lovely for both a skirt and dress. It creates enough volume to add some shape as a skirt for me and my square hips but it doesn’t overwhelm as a dress. It also comes with a tie if you desire to define your waist. The stunning embroidery adds a little weight to the bottom of the skirt which prevents it from looking too voluminous as a dress. This also creates nice movement making it very twirl-worthy 💃🏻You can adjust where you want the fabric to gather which adds volume and changes the shape. For example, my favourite way to wear it is in the first photo above with the gathering evenly distributed but you can also move the fabric to the side creating a flatter front like in third photo with the tie.
The slight paper bag waist/neckline creates a slight ruffle which I find flattering. Functionally I appreciate that the waist/neckline has both a drawstring and elastic to hold it up. And finally, the ties at the top allow you to create an ever-so-cute bow on each shoulder which adds to the overall sweetness of the dress.
I feel like when I talk about an Innika Choo item I’m always saying, “and” ,“also”, “and you can do this”, “and tie it this way”. It’s all very versatile! If you want to see this dress in action it was in my Youtube video called the “Innika Choo Haul” here:
Sheerness: This dress is unlined and I would say it’s slightly sheer. I feel comfortable wearing nude underwear. Fun fact! I have this in the panna pink and gingham print too which are both lined whereas this one isn’t. I believe this is dependent on how sheer the main fabric is.
