Sparrow! When I first saw this top I completely wrote it off because it’s a crop top and I’m a mom of three so I didn’t think it was for. But after seeing a few people I thought WHO CARES! I’m going to wear what I love. So I decided to give it a try but decided I would size up for length. After talking to a very helpful @shopdoen customer service rep she helped me decide on a large which I would’ve never gone for on my own. The large is PERFECT! I actually have a longer body and shorter legs so the length works well with high-waisted jeans.
The ramie fabric is one of my favourites this season. I love how casual and crunchy it looks. The structure of ramie is unique in that it doesn’t soften like linen. It retains its form and I think that works so well with the feminine details. I’m very into crunchy ruffles.
The jeans are the “Cheeky Straight” by @everlane. I really love the shape of the leg and the medium wash. These come in ankle length for a more petite friendly version.
Jane(s)! Y’all I did not need another Jane 🙈 This is my 4th one and I definitely got caught up in the fact that they marketed it as a pyjama top. I put all of my Jane tops into their own Blog post! Read about them all here.
Casey! It was a rainy day here so I reached for one of my trusty summer knits. I love this sweater because it has a pretty open weave which makes it work for colder but humid summer days. This outfit did get me excited about fall though! Autumn is one of my favourite seasons and I love every cliche of the season. The crunchy leaves, pumpkin lattes, and bulky sweaters. HEAVEN! I’m excited to see what Sezane releases in the Fall. They make the best knits.
I got this Casey sweater from the Sezane Archives. I actually have it in the other colour (are you surprised) which is pink and glittery. The organic horizontal pattern is really unique and reminds me of a landscape painting. This knit is a little bit heavy so it falls in a great way. I got this one in a larger size which makes it very comfy. I like it paired with something structured and easy like high-waisted jeans.
Alpaca! Haha this is one of the times starting with the style name doesn’t work. This is the tiered alpaca-blend midi skirt by @LaurenManoogian. I got this and a matching cardigan back in April during a sale at MatchesFashion. I’d always wanted to try this elevated knitwear brand because I love how it blends minimalism and femininity into their designs. While I’m not a minimalist I love the simple look in knitwear. One of my favourite movies and the best styling moments is Meg Ryan’s character in You’ve Got Mail and I feel like she would’ve worn something like this. Her character’s style is a relaxed feminism and I just adore it. It’s fun to attempt to replicate that with this look.
This skirt has a drawstring waist and two tiers. I love this separation in this skirt and I find it flattering on my square-ish hips as it creates more of a curve with the added volume. This skirt is a size 2 and I think a size 1 would’ve been better for length. It’s a little long so hemming it might work better for me. It’s an unfinished knit edge that rolls up so I might try and hem it myself. If anyone out there has experience doing that please let me know and/or stop me right away. 😂
The colour is called beige but it’s on the cool side. It’s more of an oatmeal which is my favourite type of neutral and works best for my skin.
I’m very into skirts this season in part to the many Innika Choo Nev Erontym skirts that I have. I have loved skirts for a while but the trendy form fitting (leopard) midi ones never looked good on me so I’m happy to have found a style that works! Expect lots of midi skirts from me as we enter Fall!
I love this feminine skirt paired with a white tee. This is the organic boxy cut t-shirt from @everlane. It was gifted to me during a campaign in March. I love how this t-shirt fits! The fabric is super soft and the pocket adds just enough design to prevent it from being plain. I love how this style of t-shirt pairs with skirts.
Daily Graind! One of my favourite things about @innikachoo is how versatile and adjustable her designs are. I’m actually wearing this top BACKWARDS in the first pic (swipe to see the front with the tie and the many ways to wear it). The neck and sleeves are drawstring and fully adjustable. You can make the neck bigger to wear off the shoulder or tighter for more of a crew neck shape. Adjusting the neck also makes the blouse longer and shorter. And the same thing is with this pretty sleeve! Tie it tight for a puff sleeve or leave it loose for a cool open shape.
The embroidery has a sheen to it and feels very luxe which suits the collection’s name: Regalia. The embroidery is also on the hem which is a gorgeous scallop shape. Scallops and embroidery are some of my favourite feminine details ever that you always find in Innika Choo pieces.
The colour is called “Copen blue” and it’s like dusty royal blue which is hard to take a picture of styled so dm me for a swatch. This also comes in a light pink and has MATCHING SHORTS which are available at Matches through my link in my bio.
The only things I would change are the length of the tie and maybe the body shape. The tie is extremely long. This leaves a lot of room for adjusting but can easily be shortened a couple inches. My baby undid these ties about a hundred times today and they got caught in a few things.
I also wonder if going up a size would make the body a bit more flattering to wear untucked (I’m wearing a size 1). I think this top looks good untucked in pictures but I prefer it tucked in which is sad because I love the scallop hem. I felt like I could’ve used some more room in the body and/or it would be more flattering if I sized up. The shape of the blouse is cut straight and I think it would be great shorter or if the body flared out into more of an a-line shape. All in all I love it! I think it is so fun to style and change up and it’s beautiful.
Liberty! If there’s one thing I both have a weakness for and is the most impractical item for me to own as a mom of three it’s a white dress. It’s my wedding anniversary today so I was determined to wear a special dress! I can say this dress survived 3 meals, a playdate with two other kids outside in the dirt and our neighbour’s GERMAN SHEPHERD WHO JUMPED UP ON ME! Honestly I love dogs including ol’ Bandit but oh man did I have a heart attack. The dress came out unscathed and I just brushed any dirt that got on it clean off.
I thought this dress was so unique when I saw it. If you’ve been following me for a while I just adore a tie string detail! There are three tie strings: two at the shoulder and one at the neck/bust which allow for major adjustments (swipe for more pics of how the bust and shoulder can be adjusted). The necktie adjusts the horizontal neckline and the shoulder tie brings the neckline up and down in the front. The tie doesn’t reach around the back of the neck. The size is “free size” the brand @kinga_csilla says to, “remove the distraction of the ‘right fit’ concept”. I got it from @theslowmode and in the listing it says it fits a US 4 -10. The Slow Mode and Kinga Csilla work in small batches so you have to think quickly but this seems to be a popular style that they’ve had before and are bringing back in a black apparently.
The fabric is an ivory georgette cotton which I’ve never experienced before. It’s textured, semi sheer and feels like a dream to wear all day. The dress is lined from the first bust seam down so I would recommend a nude bra. I’m 5’3” and I was happy with the length when I got it but after wearing it a day I will hem it about an inch or so for easier movement.
The sleeve is slightly puffed (gosh I love a puff sleeve!) and it hits at the elbow for me. It’s trimmed in what looks like an antique lace which is one of my favourite parts. Speaking of favourite- IT HAS POCKETS!
I think this is a really lovely dress. It’s beautiful in a pattern which they’ve released before and a solid in this stunning fabric. I think this would be a really great gift seeing how well it fits a range of body types.
Hope Filthorts and Fornillo! Welcome to another episode of, “I can wear this backwards” 😂. This is my cheerful pink honeycomb neck blouse from @innikachoo. I love wearing this top with the ties open in front or tied in the back which really showcases the pretty honeycomb neckline. This beautiful smocking technique also creates a little volume in the body and shoulder making it a comfortable fit and a slight puffed sleeve. This is possibly the most cheerful top I own because it’s such a pretty shade of pink. The colour is called, “candy floss” which makes me so happy. I love the elastic sleeves which are easy to roll up if you’re active day to day.
Fornillo! Ya’ll I’m in LOVE with this hat! This is from @avenuethelabel and I originally ordered it for my March break vacation but like many companies they experienced a lot of delays and I eventually canceled this hat order. The company was very apologetic and responsive and gave me back a refund easily. Well I was well into summer and I still didn’t like any hats I found (the many bucket hats via H&M and Faithfull did not work for me) so I came crawling back to Avenue. The hat was on preorder again but shipped on time and without complication (or duty! Yaay!). It arrived packed flat which is one of the amazing features of this hat.
The fornillo is made of sustainably sourced paper straw and I’m wearing a size M/L. It has wire in the brim which makes it super fun to style (swipe for my video showing this feature). I adore adore ADORE this hat and I’m so happy I don’t have to shop for a sun hat anymore!
